2025 Chinquapin District Pinewood Derby
Saturday, April 5
Where: Edgerton United Methodist Church, 307 N. Michigan Ave., Edgerton OH 43517
Time: beginning at 9 a.m. See Schedule below for details
Registration: online (see below) or day-of. Please do not mail to office.
Who Qualifies? Registered Cub Scouts in Chinquapin District who have won 1st Place by Rank
in their Unit’s Competition in the categories of Speed or Paint.
Example 1: Pack sends Speed Winners: 1st place Lion, 1st place Tiger, 1st place Wolf, etc.
Example 2: Pack sends Paint Winners: 1st place Lion, 1st place Tiger, 1st place Wolf, etc.
If 1st place winner is unable to attend, a Unit may send 2nd place winner to District Race.
Scouts must choose Speed or Paint, and may not compete in both.
Cost: $10.00 per racer
Will there be Food? YES! The “Scout Café” will have snacks and drinks for sale

Other Details:
- Must race same car that was built and won at your unit race this year
- Cars are inspected using the Black Swamp Area Council Rules
- All cars must be built using Scouting America licensed kits
- Awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for each rank
- Field Uniform (“Class A”) is the uniform for the day
- All trophy winners are eligible to compete at the Council Pinewood Derby May 3, 2025
Volunteer Positions Available
Inspectors greet Scouts and use BSAC rules to confirm weight, length, width, height, body shape, wheel and axle type and overall condition. They issue a license. Qualities: no rule bending, attention to detail, good vision.
Pit Crew assists parents with car repair in the pit area. Qualities: good with tools
Registration greets Scouts, verifies or takes payment. Qualities: friendly, office skills, good hearing and spelling, legible handwriting.
Crew Chief conducts pre-race talk about rules of conduct sportsmanship safety and conducts post-race review to mark and verifying winner. Qualities: friendly, encouraging, good with kids, able to watch for signs of disappointment.
Awards Circle manages race winner circle, trophies, and photos. Qualities: communication, ability to take and send digital photos.
Announcer greets everyone, makes introductions, reminds participants of rules, restroom locations, exits and concessions and calls each race with names and lane assignments. Qualities: clear speaker, able to pronounce names, communication with bracket volunteers.
Brackets/computer - run the computer programs for the races
Set Up and/or Tear Down should be willing and able to assemble/disassemble pinewood track. May require lifting up to 50 lbs.
