Google Meets offers Video Conferencing for your unit:

“Google Meets is really great, many families already have a Google account and it makes it easy to connect.  The kids seemed to know what they were doing (almost intuitive to them).  The added plus was our den meeting went over 40 minutes working on and explaining solar ovens; it’s nice there is no time limit like some video platforms.” Elizabeth Houtz, Den Leader Pack 96, Coldwater, OH

I reach out to you today, in an effort to help your Units keep Scouting On as we work our way through the changing climate amid COVID-19.  The council G-Suite for non-profit organizations, provided at no cost to the council. You can find the guide to setting up a virtual meeting here:

From that point forward you will be able to follow all of the steps in the guide provided for you.  When setting up your meeting, my recommendation is to get into the meeting early to copy the meeting link and forward to unit members before the meeting starts.  That way if you are starting at 6:30pm (five or ten minutes earlier families have the link to join).

We also have many resources at blackswampbsa.org clicking the resource banner on the home page.

If you have not liked the council Facebook page please do so many resources are available for you and your unit.

If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact me colin.earl@scouting.org

Many Scouts have seen only their parents faces these last few weeks.  Utilizing this technology will bring a welcome smile seeing fellow friends in their unit.  Best practices, parents should be in the room and help setup with their child when using.  Scouting cyber chip program offers excellent safe instructions when using the internet.  Please follow all youth protection guidelines while conducting Scouting activities.

Thank you for all that you are doing to keep Scouting moving.
