With the state of Ohio announcing that several of the health orders related to COVID-19 will be expiring on June 2, the Black Swamp Area Council has updated the guidance for unit operations. The “COVID SCOUTING SAFE PLANNING GUIDE” update can be found at this link for your review.
These are best practices developed with consideration of updated recommendations from the CDC for both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals. |

The health and safety of all our Scouts and their families remains everyone’s top concern. Based on the updated guidance, your unit should be able to resume full Scouting activities with a few COVID related health and safety adjustments. As always, Boy Scouts of America youth protection policies must be followed. Youth protection guidelines can be found at this link: https://www.scouting.org/training/youth-protection/ In addition, unit leadership should review plans with their charter partner organization and unit committee before proceeding.
Specific guidance for summer camp at Camp Lakota and Berry will be forthcoming.
The Black Swamp Area Council stands ready to help units restart and grow. Unit leadership should reach out to their unit commissioner, district committee or district executive for help or with questions.
The Scout motto is BE PREPARED, the lessons that our Scouts and Explorers learn, help to guide them through this pandemic. Thank you to all our dedicated volunteers that have navigated the ever-changing guidance to ensure that the youth of our community were able to continue Scouting.
The council is looking forward to a great summer season, with two of our Scouts BSA camp weeks already filled to capacity. If you have not signed up to get out to camp this summer please visit, www.BlackSwampBSA.org We hope to see you at camp this Summer.
